What started as a small occupy movement in Istanbul to preserve the Taksim Park and Square, grew out to major protests after a violent response from police. Protestors and police continued to provocate each other. The political stakes grew more intense over the months. Liberal Istanbul versus the conservative government. Clashes intensified and they fought them in the city center.
